Steve Macleod controls and masters the entire process from camera to finished print, resulting in technically flawless, exquisite prints. He has collaborated with some of the world’s most creative and formative artists; David Bailey commented that he was probably “the greatest ever printer alive”. Macleod’s debut exhibition, Blackwater, at ATLAS Gallery in 2010, featured large-format colour prints depicting the landscape around the Blackwater River through seasonal changes and shifting light. He takes inspiration from a long tradition of landscape photography, from the grand vistas and early technical experimentations of David Octavius Hill and Robert Adamson in the late 19th century through to the deeply meditative images of contemporary artist Thomas Joshua Cooper. He is Associate Professor at AUD in Dubai and the RCA in London, an International Ambassador for the Photovoice charity and has been a consultant and Educational Officer for Magnum Photos for ten years.
Atlas Gallery is the exclusive representative of Steve Macleod in the UK.
